Captain of M/Y Ilona, Jason Chambers, makes a reflection about the refit done at STP before finishing the works

During this month of April M/Y Ilona will finish all refit Works carried out in the facilities of STP Shipyard Palma. It is the third time Ilona stops at STP to perform several refit works. The last five months have been dedicated to finish the maintenance of this megayacht of 78.81 meters long and 12.10 meters wide. Its own crew members have collaborated with several companies located  within STP’s premises to perform, among other things, the painting of a large part of the superstructure.

Captain Jason Chambers valued very positively the shipyard’s team of professionals, both from offices and dock, as well as the facilities offered to the Crew in charge of supervising al Works done on board, but most of all he especially appreciates the opportunity of contanting sush a wide variety of speciallized companies inside the premises of STP Shipyard Palma. “This doesn’t always happen at all shipyards and is something very important for us. The STP boasts high levels of professionalism and with our internal Management Company having a yard that we can self-manage, makes work a lot easier. At STP there are Yachting companies from all sectors, which makes this yard one of the most profesional and technically qualified in Europe.” At the same time, he highlights the shipyards location, because Palma is very well connected with the rest of Europe. “The sheer number of flights gives us added security, as we know that any technician or part we need can arrive in Palma whithin the space of a few hours.”    

M/Y Ilona, with ​​Australian flag, holds awards for best Motoryacht and Most Innovative Yacht of the Year and integrates the list of the 100 largest private yachts in the world. Built by Amels Shipyard in Holland 11 years ago, has all kinds of amenities: gym, cinema room, massage room, swimming pool, jacuzzi, helicopter, scuba, motorboats, pneumatic and sophisticated electronic system, in addition to luxury suites to accommodate 16 people and cabins for 28 crew.

Meanwhile, STP Shipyard Palma facilities enable to accommodate megayachts like Ilona thanks to its 53 berths for boats up to 120 meters long, travelifts up to 700 tons, an esplanade of 70,000 m2 in land, security measures and environment protection, in addition to the possibility to choose the best companies and professionals of the nautical sector, either inside STP or has to be brought from outside Mallorca. These facilities make all maintenance and repair activities to be carried out in a more agile and satisfactory manner for customers.
